I May Be All She Has

I cannot imagine the life she has had. Or the things she has endured at the hands of her relatives. I cannot imagine not trusting anyone ever Yet it has been truly difficult for her to trust anyone I gain a tiny bit of her trust and we become friends. She takes advantage of me over and over and over again. I forgive each time For I cannot imagine the life she has had. Or the things she has endured. So I forgive And she takes And we Remain friends. After all, I may be all she has.

I've been there... although it eventually got to a level that I couldn't maintain (as she was narcissistic and caused pain without any regard).

It is amazing to me how long it takes us RESCUERS to figure out we need to bite the friendship thread off with our teeth.
