I let it slip away, never to return; yet lamented love's loss the moment it did. You crossed a bridge on fire as I watched it burn, and I cried inside, though those tears quickly hid. Love was forever, and yet, it slipped away and left me haunting memories of that day. I learned happiness is fickle and fleeting when the one you trust the most; is caught cheating. Early on, the rhyme scheme was usually abababcc, but ababccdd is now more prominent.

At the time there seems that no betrayal could possibly be worse, and memories just don't subside. So hard to let something go that you love. Beautifully written, in keeping with the restraints of the form you chose Emile. best of Luck Wendy.
