I let it slip away, never to return;
yet lamented love's loss the moment it did.
You crossed a bridge on fire as I watched it burn,
and I cried inside, though those tears quickly hid.
Love was forever, and yet, it slipped away
and left me haunting memories of that day.
I learned happiness is fickle and fleeting
when the one you trust the most; is caught cheating.
