I Heard
I heard a tiny whisper
The word was very vague
I ignored the tiny whisper
Then it left my mind today.
I heard more words resound
It stated I must listen
I ignored the words completely
And like the mist it eventually lifted.
I heard a chain of sentences
Sending a message to my soul
I closed off all connections
No light to brighten the road.
Then I heard the sound of thunder
I looked inside my heart
It leapt then ran away
The thunder it did depart.
So I asked my heart again
To give me a second chance
We must love it or feel it's shame
Sadly now it cannot change.
So I do not hear the whispers
Or a word that may resound
I've been left with only chains
No more thunder all around.
Did I wait too long for a message
Ignoring all the signs
I wonder if it will come back to me
I'll search for it this time.
So when I listened for the whisper
The words would resonate
Like thunder in the distance
Was now upon my gate.
And I don't ignore the whispers
Or it too will chain my soul
As the thunder goes away
Like the sand within a cove.
And today I hold to signs
To honor the mystery
I feel it's friendship upon me
And it will no longer chain my being.
