I Have a Clown Suit

I have a clown suit. It used to get worn a lot. But then a child jumped on my back, Injuring me. Because I wore a clown suit. So I put away the floppy suit. I put away the face make up. I put away the pointy hat, and the rainbow curls. It was sad. I put away the clown suit. One boy, On a summer day, During a school Carnival ruined this Clown for thousands of Other children. I look at my 18 -inch red clown shoes, And think, am I ready to give it a chance? After all, that was only one clown.

What a fantastic poem, Caren. I was completely captivated by your write of a hurtful situation that should have been about sharing happiness and fun instead.. your three closing lines, especially your last, are absolutely brilliant! An awesome, multi-dimensional poem and truly meaningful. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

They scare some people but I think they're funny. There's not enough humour in this world. Tom.

It's always just one clown, Kim. I know, because once upon fifty years ago I was that clown.
