I Don'T Think I'Ll Miss It
I threw it out today,
well, not really,
I just let it go.
I had kept it inside
for way too long,
fed it on distrust
and suspicion,
denied it an outlet.
It grew.
Somehow gaining
the upper hand,
questioning the distrust,
mocking the suspicion,
demanding its freedom.
I let it go.
It didn’t look back,
didn’t say good-bye.
I don’t think I’ll miss it.
