I Chose To Run
I chose to run, but had I stayed
My life would have been so run-of-the-mill,
But I am pleased my mind was not swayed
That I chose my own path and following it still.
My life would have been so run-of-the-mill
Precisely as anyone might have predicted
That I chose my own path, following it still,
Means I have lived free, never been conflicted.
Precisely as anyone might have predicted
Who knew me when can say I broke the mold,
Means I have lived free, never been conflicted,
I have no reason to regret it, now that I’m old.
Who knew me when can say I broke the mold
Adventuresome, I sought the exciting path,
I have no reason to regret it now that I’m old,
Never having given thought to the aftermath.
Adventuresome, I sought the exciting path
Had I not, I would have missed life’s potential
Never having given thought to the aftermath,
I lived life focusing on the important existential.
Had I not, I would have missed life’s potential
But I am pleased my mind was not swayed,
I lived life focusing on the important existential
I chose to run, . . . but had I stayed?
