I'd love to tell you about the beauty of Venice But I appear to only exclaim it in squeals There's 5 of us here, all talkers for a living Unable to utter a sentence that sums it up I saw a lamp post and declared it an 'absolute lamp post' and did a little happy dance Please see my pictures, they are awful You cannot see that every single millimetre is so beautiful that it's possible you'd fall to your knees and sob The great thing is the tourists are all on gondolas or on Rialto Bridge, so the rest of Venice is ours to exist right in the middle of Like walking through a dream There are orchestra's playing in St Mark's Square - I can't elaborate on how good they are, my mind is blown We've also been a little overwhelmed by some tomatoes I bought The windows in our apartment - let me tell you, when you see out of them you want to call everyone you know and share just declaring "look at this" It's like Paris in HD with every heart stopping beautiful moment of existence in your veins Nothing needs an introduction and I fear when I actually find out more I'll expire For example a bridge is called "the Bridge of Sighs" it's attached to a prison and named because it was condemned prisoners last view of Venice - Venice! Stop it! You'll do me in...

A poem capturing the joy of "place"...spontaneous and captivating....bubbles with all the effervescence of being fully alive to the experience of "being there". So enjoyed reading this poem DD. The lamp post line is a gem, a great image anchoring that sense of joyful freedom.

Impossible to encapsulate the joy of it Paul! My lack of research meant I was stunned every time I turned a corner (and luckily was travelling with friends who had planned everything!). Thank you for your visit x

It's a beautiful place for sure DD, I've been there twice. Brought back a memory of one foggy morning, we were waiting for the water bus and a black speedboat, (it was going slow) with a coffin on top heading for the cemetery, I forget the name of it. It gave me a chill. Glad you enjoyed it. Tom

Gosh, I didn't see anything like that but all the transport is by boat I suppose. The DHL boat with all the parcels made it's way onto my photo reel. St Mark's Square is unreal, no photo does it justice. Saw lots of people heading to a Venetian Masked Ball, just completely dreamlike!

It really is! I have never been to Rome but may go once it's less busy. I adore looking round churches and I'm sure they would be stunning in Rome :) Just at the airport now. Today I went on a gondola and in the basilica. I still feel none of it can be translated into a poem :)
