I Can'T Breathe

Pink Floyd said,
'All you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be'
Do you believe it
How can that be

A world in which there
Are no dreams
Where everything
Is only as it seems
Was Pink kidding me

If God is dead
And dreams don't exist
If love's a farce
Then I'm so miffed
And I can't breathe
I can't breathe

~Lyric Man

Note: The Pink Floyd band is legendary. Their lyrics some of the best ever written. But I didn't always agree with their message. In this simple lyric I take issue with one of their more famous lines.

Perhaps the most poetic words ever sung were: "Its only words, And words are all I have To take your heart away …." (Bee Gees) Well done! Aloha! Rico

Hey Teacher Leave them Kids Alone - rang in our years in Apartheid South Africa. Especially in 1976, Hector Petersen and Soweto school uprisings against UNEQUAL Education. Now, we have APARTHEID all across the globe, & Mandela is a forgotten Hero of Forgiveness. But I digress ... thanks for ANOTHER BRICK OFF my WALL. shalom

You make a valid point here, LM, where even words lyrics and poetry, that come from a belief, maybe of one's back ground, culture and so on. Where diversity comes in to play, after all Pink's lyrics are amazing as i can relate, yet yours in answer also reach a poetic mind. and to make the reader think. This is a wonderful poem, also a learning curve, love it...

hey dave! i never thought about that quote before but i'm not sure i disagree with it. you do make a good point about dreams, though. i have to give it more rumination, but thanks for providing food for thought...

I like your point of view Lyric Man..but as I get older, I know that everything spoken with words of wisdom does make sense in the right context. Enjoyed your critical assessment.

I don't agree with their message either. I liked a few of their songs when I was younger. I really like THIS!!!

Gotta agree with you there my friend. A legendary band, cool music but the message he put out was a downer. Do like your message though. Great job here my friend. Write on. God Bless, JB PS Thanks bunches for your kind words on my "CHANGING SEASONS".

Got to agree with you their lyrics are legendary - only ever seen a tribute group 'pigs on the wing' we've got to have dreams, sometimes its the only thing that keeps us going in life:-) hugs jan xx
