I Am My Fathers Daughter
We were destined to share good times, and bad
I always adored him, never felt dread
Though I inherited the gene he had
I did not feel fear for what lay ahead.
You see he gave me his will to survive
To endure the test that would surely come
Never let self-pity remain or thrive
Assured me I was luckier than some.
He showed me the wonder of every day
He gave me his pluck, his power, his grace
No matter the pain, he met life his way
And bravely stood up to all he would face.
For ‘twas not the things my father told me
But the fearless life we shared, don’t you see?
