Hurricane Helene

Here comes the storm kicking up its heels, exhaling wind and sea. When it grows up… When it grows up… When it grows up, what will it be? Here comes the storm hammering, waving its arms, encroaching. What will it wreak? What will it wreak? What will it wreak, as it’s approaching? Here comes the storm whirling on the land, spouting like a whale, with its suds. Where will it go? Where will it go? Where will it go, darkening its path, causing floods?

We usually get the the tail end of hurricanes from the Atlantic, by then they've died down a lot but still cause a lot of damage, they must be terryfying when they're at their peak. Tom

My parents were living in Boca Raton, Florida, when Andrew hit. They had not left and were quite terrified. Thankfully it didn’t get to them. We will experience a tropical cyclone in Atlanta with flooding.

Hurricanes are awesome. Out-of-control nature has a beauty of its own. This was a very riveting poem.

I really like how you've used the repetition of your questions, Kim. Just keep the storm far, far away...

Thank you, Gershon! A fast moving poem (storm). Will be here soon…yikes! A cat 2 or 3. Last time, after we moved here experienced Opal (cat 2). Uprooted mailboxes, took out electricity. Time will tell. Hugs.

I had to get through Francine, and now Helene is headed in my daughter's direction. Hurricane season used to be June through September and now it goes into November. That's a long time to live with the threat of such ferocious storms. Still, I'd rather be warned one is approaching then have a tornado bearing down without knowing it's been born.
