There are prayers that we’ve been praying
Hoping hunger will somehow vanish away
Little hands held up to heaven obeying
Laughing and smiling, children are playing
In spite of hardship that leads them astray
There are prayers that we’ve been praying
Kind hearts whisper into small ears, saying
Just believe and God will answer you someday
Little hands held up to heaven obeying
Silent lights glimmer through nights, swaying
Listen to that still, small voice and obey
There are prayers that we’ve been praying
Gentleness and meekness call out, portraying
Warm, rich compassion like that on the Lord’s day
Little hands held up to heaven obeying
Humanity lifts spirits who we should be repaying
Children who need love that we can’t betray
There are prayers that we’ve been praying
Little hands held up to heaven obeying
