How Some Darkness Feels
just some thoughts for a potential poem that isn't quite formed, just felt
There's a mysterious safety I feel when walking at dusk
Presumably built up from having untroubled peace at that time of day
Should there be anyone to avoid, they stand out
Rather than how people blend in during the hustle and bustle of day
And take you by surprise with their hidden danger vibes
The darkness, a protective layer that has an almost tangible feel
The same with a night drive on a country road
It gives me a sense of peace that others don't share
I know headlights will forewarn me of company
As I glide comfortably in the dark
Just being myself
Surrounded by air that seems to soothingly caress my skin
As the day settles and comes to rest
Watched by stars that have always watched
And the moon that changes shape as if in casual conversation
Reassuring me that moods wax and wane also and it's just their way
And I can proceed with dignity with some presumed unknown purpose and assurance
That carries a respectful nod
Should I meet a passerby
