What's missing in the soup is appreciation of the blessings given. My Irish side of the family only had potatoes to boil, and the Italian side would scrape off what was left from their plates and make "dish water soup"; but THEY counted their blessings not as a given. This is a very deep pot poem Maureen. Thank you.

Amen to that. My half Irish blood can't believe I've given up the spud, nor the could've been Italian half lover of spaghetti believe I've given up the pasta. What we do for our brains.. ;), Hugs you! xomo

Crock pot with a Crook under (on the lid, or leading the lidders?). BTW, "melting pot" became almost a religious mantra, but USA has always displayed a TOSSED SALAD. We mix, but barely, as each "race" / ingredient remains separate! LORD have mercy, especially on we who claim we follow The Greatest Rabbi, JESUS. amen

I just remembering being taught in elementary school about Canada's "multiculturalism" in comparison. In hindsight, it was an anti racism project, but it worked. Of course I had to grow up to learn that residential schools were operating during my time in school. The marches in my country are also for our indigenous brothers and sisters. xomo

Systemic racism can't be tolerated. I understand the anger, but rioting won't make for positive change (and it's not just black people rioting, btw). It must be channeled.into real change. This is a broken country. I grew up near Miami, and I haven't seen this level of intolerance and divisiveness in my lifetime. My heart aches watching an unarmed man have his life taken from him while he begs to live...thanks for sharing and sorry about my rant, mo. I'm feeling great sadness today. xx Rhonda

That wasn't a rant, that was a share. <3 Demonstrations are happening here in Canada too. Funny the first time I observed systemic racism was as a tween in Florida, told that black people only on the strip to work during the week, then saw where they lived on the way to Disney, I don't remember much else about the trip, that seared in memory. xomo

Thanks for raising this issue, but say what you will, if white people set fire to cop cars, they'd be in jail the rest of their lives, every single one of them... Our country has a double standard that favors blacks when it comes to crime. They get away with rioting and looting every time there's a 'cause.' ... So the frustration is definitely two-way. I can't understand the tolerance for these thugs, just as I wouldn't understand it if they were all white Republicans. No excuse for it. ~ gw

Your frustration is palpable and understandable my friend. When a system is broken, its people are broken, the riots IMHO are merely a symptom. I would hesitate to call it tolerance, I'm sure for an incarceration for profit system, more would be merrier. There is no good excuse for rioting. Don't let frustration erode empathy. Mo hugs always, xomo

It may be. I'm a gen X ;), To be honest, the more I learn about the gut/brain axis, mental health, and the lengths of capitalist corruption, the more I think we just are not thinking about everything in a productive way. My hot air anyway ~xomo!
