Home In the Empire of Ice

They poke small heads out from their moms’ underbellies. Feeling chilled, they retreat to their parents’ safe spot. Receiving nourishment, the chicks grow and adapt. One day, left alone, beckoned by the sea, they take the plunge. and for five years, they play, chasing waters’ flow! Grown and full, they emerge on land, swollen stomachs sliding on ice. Facing storms, determined. . . they waddle trekking for miles home. Based on information from the documentary "March of the Penguins" and for David Williams' Contest:True Diminishing Hexaverse.

Oh, ....this WAS A WINNER! Great to see!....(I am in a very foul mood as the Not-so-polite ground hog destroyed some areas of my yard!) Off to tractor trailer surplus store!!! It's trap time!.....Grrrrrr....Isn't is funny how one rodent can ruin your day!?...I returned a soup mail...

Gotta love that documentary, Andrea...Those dedicated photographers touched my heart the most...Documentaries can take almost a lifetime to produce and are the life's work of a few...You know my dad used to call me Pen-gwen and so I was always drawn to these creatures of ice...Very smooth flow...gwendolen

AS you know I love the nature series and totally the show. I am using this new lap top and it had such a wide base at the bottom. I can barely reach the keys mine at home is smaller. Just had a few moments here to see what's new. Anyway awesome poem for the contest. love phyl
