Holiday Nightmare
The Future seems so haunted by the past
waiting to go back to a place of peace;
Post traumatic tragedy loudly flashed,
laughing at every single pulse increase;
May happen again palms covered in sweat,
left alone and crying no yuletide cheer;
Lingering in my mind a constant threat
a repeat of pain is my darkest fear;
It keeps me awake in the chill of night,
I bite back a swallow of pure panic;
Scattering reason into fight or fight
blood rings in my ears I become frantic;
When nothing’s left to be happy about
that holiday nightmare becomes a shout.
