Holiday Nightmare

The Future seems so haunted by the past waiting to go back to a place of peace; Post traumatic tragedy loudly flashed, laughing at every single pulse increase; May happen again palms covered in sweat, left alone and crying no yuletide cheer; Lingering in my mind a constant threat a repeat of pain is my darkest fear; It keeps me awake in the chill of night, I bite back a swallow of pure panic; Scattering reason into fight or fight blood rings in my ears I become frantic; When nothing’s left to be happy about that holiday nightmare becomes a shout.

Hugs to you, Melani. When I was way younger, I had sone rough Christmases.. that all ended… Thank the Lord. My best Christmas was visiting a senior Home. We sang songs to the elderly, I wept while I sang. Then we visited with them, I learned Christmas was not all about me and my needs. It was about giving not getting. PS well crafted poem Merry Christmas, Pangie

Oh indeed it is about giving. Thank you. I entered it in a horror holiday contest. Written for a prompt.
