I know limericks are made to have a humorous punch line at the end, but I tried something a little different this time. This is a limerick with no punch line, I call it a "Saderick"  (LOL) A limerick with a sad ending rather than a happy or humorous ending.

This is an example for my upcoming contest...get your pens ready.

This contest should be fun :) 

I once knew a gentleman of old age He worked hard his whole life...minimum wage He wrote a book full of love Before he went up above "I love you all" He wrote, on his last page He lived long...almost one hundred years old Said his friends "He had a heart made of gold" He's seen and shed...many tears Thousands...through all of his years He left one more, on his bed...I've been told

I have never written a limerick and see they are often funny but i actually like this one more than the funny ones...it has more meaning behind the words! Enjoyed this well penned poem :) hugs
