He left home this morning With his hoodie keeping him warm Saying goodbye to his mama And continuing on out the door He sat down at his favorite desk Where he could hear the best And began to flip through the pages Of an amazing book he’s found That’s when the silence turned around And shrieks of excitement began to sound There were shooters inside the school Evidently, no one knew…. His last day on this earth was normal Here one moment, gone the next Why did he have to die so young? Only God has the answers to this one. His mama remembers that morning Now it is chiseled on her weary mind A simple gesture, a kiss on the cheek Was the last time she would feel his love September 30, 2019 HERE ONE MINUTE, GONE THE NEXT Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Line Gauthier

Oh...How sad. These mass shootings tear at the heart of the loved ones of the victims, and our hearts as well. You have brought this to light well with this poem, dear. May God protect all those young people in classrooms...Hugs
