Defeating Love - [Everyday] Psychophilosophy

she took his heart in hands ... crimping the passionate edges with dainty, fuchsia-tipped digits and tore it cleanly - deliberately - in two with no more care than if it was the deed to a tar pit and no greater ceremony than yesterday's obits ... he watched the remnants fall (like bloodied angel wings torn from Lucifer by God Himself) drifting ... lilting, to stillness and when they lay at his careworn feet he took a last chill breath in spat upon the faithful, thrumming pieces and walked quietly away ... with no more care for them than she.

Bard, this is (quite literally) heartbreaking poetry. The deed to the tar pits and yesterday's obits are so original and establish the cavalier attitude of the lover. Bloodied angel's wings, torn from Lucifer by God himself alludes to a spiritual depth as well as emotional. Another master's class in how to write emotionally cathartic free verse. Powerful image as well. There is only one Greg Barden! Masterfully done, my friend, going in my faves ~ John
