His Gift of Love

There are days when I don’t understand The way things go all wrong What do I do that makes it so disturbing The darkness weighs me down With clouds that shadow me in doubt And color my heart in dread My spirit in a silent weariness that expects All the sad and the bad to come to my life Give me such madness I can’t see The joy, the wonder, the love and peace Everything that comes seems to say I have no chance to make it past the pain To reach beyond the fear, the sorrow, the dread That leaves my heart so alone and lost It feels like I will never reach my destination A place called love – light and inspiration These days are like the storms that assault My very dreams, my very thoughts, my heart They make me feel like I never will know hope The way out of the sorrow seems beyond my reach I just can’t find the grace that will help me past The fear and sorrow, the horror of this fall Toward a place I can’t dream… a place I can’t feel A place where my heart and soul are only known For the shame and disgrace, the hatred and dismay All the things that come alive to make me feel Like my life is going toward the wrong side of the ache Desperation fills my mind with its futility I’m in a land of loss and discontent, despair That rages beyond the word grief Into the heart of dread, misery and dejection Feelings that remind me the devil tries to fight me With all the pain that comes when I fail to see The spark of light that God ignites in me When His light shines through – like a clue Reminding me that I have a chance to reach out Toward the joy, the peace, the opportunity To believe in a God who knows my every need A God who loves me like I have never been loved With a sincerity that is honest and bold Vibrating with kindness and joy and more love Than I’ve ever known… more love than I can hold Inside this heart and soul who long to bring hope Out of the darkness – fill it with light from Him Who makes a way where no way has been Who frees the soul from the sadness within Who redeems the one who listens to Him With Jesus, every hope is brought to life Every light is alive and inspiring Every joy is felt with a pure wonder That Jesus can bring such peace and love Love beyond words, beyond feelings, beyond dreams Love like this is beyond every extreme Love like this is more beautiful and splendid Than the heart can hold, inspire or expect Love like this is only felt as it melts the grief With a love that forgives, accepts and lives to give!
