Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi Hi

“Hi!” She is about two, round face, enormous brown eyes, pink snowsuit. Running around Starbucks, while her mother is getting things settled at a table. Some patrons look amused, others do not look up. How they cannot look up into that adorable face, I have no clue. “Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi!” I cannot write anything; I am too fascinated, watching people’s reactions And non-reactions, which are still incredulously difficult for me to understand. She is an angel, spreading joy. An older gentleman looks up and glares at her. He had shuffled in like a walking apology, Head down, walking slowly, bent over like a broken willow in pain. “Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi!” she says cheerfully, standing at his table. He ignores her, and she puts her chubby hand on his knee. I am ready to run over and save her if I have to, as her mother is still busy Putting the new baby’s seat into a booth, and arranging blue blankets. The old man looks down. “Well, hello!” he says. “How are you?” He smiles. This hello had changed his entire demeanor. Pink snowsuit giggles. She turns and walks to another table, satisfied now. “Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi!” When the older gentleman leaves, he stops by and says something to the young mother. I hear her say, “I am glad she was not a bother.” “Quite the contrary,” he says. I watch him straighten up his back in a military way and walk out proudly. Written Jan 14th, 2019 Silent One’s Poetry Contest - Hello

Thank you Anne-Lise. I truly had fun with this one. Knew immediately which scenario I needed to write. I love it when this happens, and it always does. No one can turn a room faster than a precocious two year old.

Thank you Eve. Hugs back my friend. I hope you are toasty and safe inside somewhere, with electricity. Some of my friends have had no electricity for almost a week.

Congratulations Caren A lovely poem, a lovely example. How joyful, a child with such innocence. Everything is a happy adventure. Even a cantankerous older man was charmed by her HI, HI, HI!! Awesome.

I have watched, and I have marveled each time, knowing what would happen, holding my breath, hoping it does.

This poem made me smile, reminds me of my own children... You cant ignore them when they are so cute... I remember when I was in hospital and my 3 year old nephew came to see me, he went running to an old man who was lying in bed, this man hardly had any visitors, it really made him smile... Children are so innocent and beautiful..Congratulations on your placement in the contest..

Thank you. The exuberance and enthusasm of a small child cannot be beat, unless you are a puppy lover, is my opinion. It is amazing how fast they can change the entire feeling in a room.

Hi Caren, This is soooooo adorable! That little girl's bubbly attitude and relentless spirit changed that older gentleman's day. I hope to see you on the winners list. I wish you best of luck in the contest:-) Alexis

It is so difficult to ignore an adorable two-year-old. I want to snatch them up and run home with them for four hours of play, giving the mommy a nap time with her baby, but of course, I refrain - not wanting to be JAILED.

Thank you Eve. The second I saw the prompt in this contest I understood what my essence wanted me to write.
