Hesitant To Move On
October nights set trees aglow
as Jack Frost's etchings start to show.
Not ready to pass the baton;
Autumn's hesitant to move on.
And Scarecrows swaying in the breeze;
let crows come and go as they please.
In farmer's fields, nothing will grow;
Nature begins taking things slow.
Colors seem scribbled in crayon;
hastily, as if quickly drawn.
And the canopies play striptease;
as temperatures drop degrees.
November shares December's snow;
when winter winds begin to blow.
The nights get cold, 'twixt dusk and dawn;
alas, the songbirds have all gone.
And soon everything starts to freeze;
awaiting Spring to green the trees.
