Here I Stand
Here I stand, staring aghast at the door
Your leaving had come with no backward glance
Have you not left through this same door before
Have I not stood in this same lonesome trance
Soulless and brooding, our home stands undead
See how it prickles my skin as though chilled
An emptiness lingers here in your stead
My leaden heart feels redundant and stilled
One dozen photos will hearten me not
For grey shall be my demeanour today
My fires shall burn dull and nevermore hot
Since one door closing saw you go away
A key in the lock, is it truly you
Next week, it’s settled, I’ll come shopping too
