Hello and Goodbye
I was alone sitting in the dim light.
In a favorite place from long ago.
I heard a man's voice on my right.
The voice said a simple "hello"
I looked up into the most beautiful blue eyes.
I then took in the rest of his face,
So handsome, I drew a quick breath, I couldn't disguise.
He smiled, said another hello, in a deep bass.
We easily talked for hours, had a drink or two.
It was getting late, but I didn't want to go.
I looked at him, he at me, and we both knew,
It was time for goodbye, too soon after hello.
