Watching the ocean waves breathe in and out, nagging truths lap at the shores of my doubt. And I search the sky for traces of God amongst trillions of stars scattered about. Walking upon the same sands, martyrs trod, I find their beliefs basically flawed. For I do not believe in damnation; or else unconditional love's a fraud. Morals form our soul's faith-based foundation, sin; is yielding free will to temptation. And these thoughts cascade like unceasing waves as I contemplate hell and salvation. Obsessed by what may lie beyond our graves we willingly become religious slaves. And seek guarantees, scared of the unknown, reassured by prayers that belief saves. I cannot comprehend God on a throne; nor Man as a sinner that must atone. For; I believe God's love is eternal and unconditional; we're not alone.

Yes I believe that's Gods love is unconditional too. This poem is marvellous, esp admire the first stanza. Yet each stanza is great in muse and rhyming. Kudos. Pls do write your thoughts under my latest poem too.

My dear....your writing is always of such a high caliber. I'm awed. This is no exception. You bring important questions for one to ponder. God's love is eternal...that is foundational to my belief system, yet...I do believe in a life to come and in a day of judgement. Surely God's justice and fairness is as absolutely as His love. How can we content ourselves with knowing that those who perpetrate heinous crimes will be unpunished...Deep questions.

Thanks Eileen... justice, fairness and punishment are human concepts and only apply to this plane of existence, I believe they have no meaning in God's spiritual realm, I appreciate your comments and support my friend, Emile.
