Harvest of Delight
My darling stay for autumn if you could.
The pumpkin patch is wet with morning dew.
We filled the barn with ample firewood.
Red leaves are falling slowly into view.
My sweetheart there’s a haze at golden dawn
with sunshine days and crisp fall evening shade.
There’s a cornucopia to gaze upon
and the autumn colors are on cavalcade.
The hickory smoke will tickle at your nose
and you’ll feel a desire to draw near.
Mother Nature’s all attired in saffron robes.
Those mysteries of summer will be clear.
My lover let us both give thanks to God
for he’s blessed us with a harvest of delight.
Upon my lap in front the fire you’ll nod
and pass the full mooned chilly autumn night.
