His beard is rough, almost cutting
through the soft skin on my cheek
as we embrace, touching gently
the places where I fade into him
like silence flows into the snow
melting away even the whisper of
a breath that reaches out from
the passionate hues of light
love and laughter, lasting on
through morning and night
caressing the truth with hope
faith that praises the Creator
love that is the anchor for
our hearts to keep beating in rhythm
echoing joy, gentleness, freedom
the wonder of two souls in unison
