Notes About The Poem

Happy Thanksgiving To You All

This is a terrible time of year for Turkeys
How many innocent lives are going to be lost?
All their friends and relations are in for the chop
No turkey is spared; their fate is sealed
Killed and then cooked in kitchens all over the US
So people can enjoy a traditional festive feast
Go vegetarian or vegan and spare these poor birds-
I understand nut roast is a very tasty alternative
Voting turkeys would ban thanksgiving if they could
I imagine they must dread this time of year!
Now, let me be serious… I hope you all have a wonderful time
Get together with family and friends and celebrate your special day

Oh I'm sorry, I just assumed you're in the USA too. But dreams do come true, so one day you just might find yourself with a big pumpkin pie, especially one from NY. I'm not a fan of pumpkins but I do love apple pie. Lol!

Wonderful write Jan!! Thanksgiving is such a fun holiday ... all about family and friends .. and reflecting on what we are thankful for. We all celebrate with different traditions but generally that poor turkey inevitably ends up on the table. Best, Judy

Breaking news in the states is that turkeys all over the country have taken flight and were last seen flying over the wall to Mexico. Very nice Acrostic, Jan. Every day should be one of thanks in a country that takes too many things for granted.

Well, Jan, the benefit of eating Turkey on Thanksgiving is that the aftermath of dinner is a loud lullaby of snoring from the living room......

Wonderful poem, Jan. I hate to break the news but Canada is just as big on Thanksgiving turkeys. More bad news for turkeys.
Allison Avatar
November 22, 2017 at 8:03 AM
I would add Canada into the poem but according to google you celebrate yours at a different time! Turkeys can have a safe haven in the UK for a few weeks but would need to move on prior to Christmas lol:-) hugs Jan xx
