Happiness-Acrostic

Bedtime Stories

Here beside the glowing hearth, warmed by scents and sounds
All around rambunctious little ones settle upon the ground.
“Please!” they chime, “Just one more story, 'fore we go to sleep.”
Paternal affection engulfs my heart, emotions remarkably deep.
I softly offer one more tale, and grin at their youthful mirth.
No worldly wealth, no gems, nor gold; no treasures of Earth
Even on the best of days, compares to what they’re worth.
So frequently, from every clime, we’re told what "happiness" means,
Sometimes, though…I think we know, it’s in these little things.

I find my grandkids enjoy the same stories over and over especially if they are ones about when their mom or dad were youngsters like them. A great teaching tool if used properly. Enjoyable read, thanks for posting.

Thank you for taking the time to read and share your thoughts. My daughter goes through phases where she wants on book on repeat for a time...then for no apparent reason, switches to a different one for a while, and on it goes. I'm happy to read whatever she wants though...haha.

Spending time with our little ones truly is priceless. They only stay little for so long, and once that window closes, well...it stays closed.

This is charming - I used to love reading stories to and with my son - little things like this cost nothing but your time and are so so important to both parent and child:-) good luck in the contest:-) hugs Jan xx
