Happily Wed

He blows his fortune on poker and rummy
She lives by the fridge where life is so yummy
With vows long ago said
They're now happily wed
He to his gambling and she to her tummy

Are this couple truly happily wed
Is the wife happy because she’s well fed
His poker and rummy
Is not at all funny
Something tells me that the romance is dead
                                                __Belle Bellevue

This poem made me think of the nursery rhyme, Jack Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no lean (a little bit) This Jack though, should stay home for his wife's chocolate cake that would be yummy and better than rummy. I like this clever poem. :0)

I think I'll play it safe and not offer them any advice--I found this to be a smart thing to do! Discretion is a better part of valor. Glad you like it, Robert

So funny ! I wish to meet this couple and ask if they are really happy. They may not be happy together, but could be happy in heir own individual way. Well done Robert.

In my observations, it's happier than a lot of long-term marriages. Glad it gave you a laugh! Happy, healthy and enriching new year!

If I laugh at any mortal thing 'tis that I may not weep--Lord Byron. That goes for goofy marriages too! Robert

Lol. This totally reminds me of a poet friend who was in Vegas a few weeks back with his wife, I read he lost everything on roulette, I just hope they are still together! Fingers crossed.

Well done, limerick. A marriage of angst and food.

A marriage of mutual convenience I suppose. Thank you, Kim.
