Nicely penned, FJ, having read others' posts, I was in New Orleans in the summer of 1978 and enjoyed my brief stay there while I was passing through--an active place, Aloha William

It really was! I know Northerners joke about us with the ice and snow, but they're pretty much correct when it comes this far south lol.

Congratulations on you win. After reading the comments to get the backstory, I realise that large parts of the USA was unexpectedly hit by that snow bomb. A great, if somewhat chilling, reminder of the event.

Hi Suzette! It was very unusual weather for an unusually long period for us. Grateful it did not come with rain or there would have most likely been far more damage, and death, like last year. Feeling sorry for some of the poor northerners right now, they don't seem to be catching a break. Thanks for stopping by!!!

Hi Andie, this far south it really is. I am about an hour from New Orleans. Last February we had ice on the roads and it was chaos in areas. My sister is east of is in Houston and was in below freezing weather with no electricity for over a week. So thankful she has a fireplace.

Thanks Gail, I enjoy haiku but I do have the habit of adding personification; which really isn't supposed to be. So I have to work to make a decent haiku that follows the proper perimeters by English standards lol.
