Science Fiction Poetry Contest

Sponsored by: Chetta Achara  01/24/24

Somewhere on another world, in a far away galaxy
Aliens built a quantum-scope, our world they could see
I also built a similar contraption, and maxed out the lens
Now I witness these ETs observing earth, but in a weird tense

See, as they zoom in closer, it’s dinosaurs they view, not me!
This is no illusion, nor does it defy relativity
I’m in their far off future, watching them observe our distant past,
I spot a T Rex on their monitor, Barney I called him, for a laugh
Now I live stream earth, via a planet no one has ever heard
even though the creatures I see, are 66 million years dead

Everything observable that has ever happened
embeds in photons racing through space
All we need to unlock them, is quantum technology
in the right time, pointing to just the right place

I hope you follow my postulation, the implications seem insane
But what good is science fiction, without stretching out our brains

Goddamn! here’s a thought, about this poem
Say on a planet, merely 2000 light years away
If by chance they’re observing Jerusalem
Christ son of man, we could yet live stream today!

Time travel, though hypothetical can become a reality in future with enormous possibility.... "on a planet, merely 2000 light years away If by chance they’re observing Jerusalem Christ son of man, we could yet live stream today!" What a wonderful possibility! David, you have stretched your mind to infinite possibilities through Science. Congratulations on your great win!

Heya Valsa, it’s these very concepts and possibilities, although only Sci/fi for now, that gives me hope for our future, by looking into the past, AI will play a big role in developing such technology, thank you so much for stopping by with congrats, cheers David

Thank you Richard, was an enjoyable one to write, perhaps a little short on free verse, but hey sometimes you gotta just roll with it, cheers David

Thanks so much Chetta, I’m delighted with your placement, I’m sure some day this or similar technology will be invented, and who knows, all may be revealed about earth’s history, cheers David

Thanks so much Joseph, past and future all from perspective, that’s the way spacetime works, throws up all sorts of paradoxes, cheers David

Hey, we were able to churn out a sci-fi challenge today. WoW to that last line, so true, Jesus was just a man then to Jerusalem it wouldn't matter to them, "in the right time, pointing to just the right place" Whenever that may be. Great entry~ DID you see "Indiana Jones, Dial Of Destiny?" a must see.

Heya Anaya! I seen it, he accidentally goes back in time and meets Archimedes,! Brilliant concept, but perhaps science fantasy, more than science-fiction, I believe my quantum scope, holds true as a viable if not unlikely way of seeing into our past, and if all else fails at least we have our imaginations to bring the past to us, cheers David

I’ve been enamored with time travel since high school and read science fiction novels about it. Forget the aliens!! I want to travel in time. Just not sure in which direction. So, David… can you hook me up to your quantum-scope kind of contraption? Knowing your religious uncertainty, I find it interesting that you damn God yet would consider live-streaming Jesus. Wouldn’t that be enlightening?

Ha! it was more of a god damn! Exclamation! as an afterthought, time travel is a wonderful concept, I’m not sure if it’s physically possible, but have no doubt there will be ways of seeing into the past, in our near future, this one I postulate as a plausible possibility, another way would be if aliens visited our planet throughout history and recorded events, they may well stop by again, and show us their recordings, sci/fi is mad!

Certainly a lot to think about here David, I've heard time gets distorted in deep space, it's hard for our minds to comprehend it. The stars we see in the night sky probably don't exist anymore because of the distance light has to travel. Wormholes are something else, where's Einstein when you need him lol. Tom

Einstein done his bit, it’s over to me now lol, but honestly anything we view in the night sky we see as it was when that light left its surface, from 0 to billions of years ago, seems like a great way to time travel, with my quantum-scope, cheers David
