I am grateful - for the moon and stars For the seas, the rivers and creeks Leaves in the autumn, hues so humbling, and flowers, vibrant – laughing… In the summer when everything is blooming And all the world seems so alive, so stunning I am grateful - for the music, the song A dance, swirling and twirling - gracefully Revealing compassion, joy and much more Feelings that color the world in a smile, Silencing the fears and wiping away the tears So that everywhere in life – there is wonder I am grateful - for the friends, the family All the memories and the precious people, Some on earth and some living up above - Who make me feel, make me listen and believe Quiet my worries and relieve all my uncertainties Reminding me to live my life with passion and praise I am grateful - for the miracle of a faith that brings Me through the storms, reassuring my breaking heart Restoring my trust and assuring me of the light inside Awakening my dreams, inspiring me to believe and Promising me that every kindness will eventually bring Serenity and hope that breathes life into my spirit I am grateful - for the love that seems like my whole Reason for existing – the whole reason that I’m here The reason that I give and the reason that I live… Giving back in a world that sometimes seems so difficult, Listening to my heart even when I’m so insecure, unsure Just what it means to love unconditionally, love eternally! 2022 Poetry Marathon Mile 24 Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Mark Toney Written and Posted on January 6, 2023
