Grandmas Rules

Grandma’s Rules There’s a reason why grandma tells you to grab a kitchen towel and dust off the table: You don’t know when company com’n’ And when they plan on moving in There’s a reason why grandma wants her girl to know how to cook, clean, sew and iron She doesn’t want her to go hungry nor act out of desperation There’s a reason why grandma tells you about her struggle She sees a greater tomorrow There’s a reason why grandma tells you to finish your vegetables Junk food is the devil There’s a reason why grandma tells you to read the Bible and to recite a verse before heading out the door Dead or alive, God is by your side There’s a reason why grandma tells you to say ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ She wants you to have some school‘ n and good home training Even if it takes some good home whipp’n Marckincia Jean Free verse 08/06/19
