“Grandmas hold our tiny hands for just a little while…but our hearts forever.” —Unknown

With eyes bright, azure like the skies
Welcoming me to be with her,
Twinkling, sparkling, shining with love
Love so wise, so warm – whispering
Wonders beyond my comprehension,
Wonders of light, hope, happiness – love
That is like the starlight glistening,
The sunlight smiling, gentling the spirit,
The beautiful in the heart who listens…

She is wise like the moon, in hues of pretty,
Gentle like the softest rain, falling down
To nurture the trees, the flowers, the earth
With graceful promises of joy and new birth

She is kind like the memories who awaken
Dreams who silence my doubts, my anxieties
With the assurance that this is a love, a quiet
Love who will survive every time, throughout
Time, endless and devoted to giving peace,
Inspiring me to believe in the miracle of love,
Abundant and flowing down from up above…

Love this strong, this alive, this affectionate
Is love that keeps me from hearing the painful,
The darkness, the doubt, the dread that abides
Inside those who can’t feel the amazing of a grace
More alive than my heart and soul can imagine…

This is a grace that spells her name, Grandma,
The sainted angel who looks down from heaven
To bless my soul with her sacred blessing – her
Light, her love, her lasting protection, inspired
By the One who holds us all together, the ONE
Who created us all to give love this alive, this strong,
This blessed – love that only comes from the soul
Who knows that love is God’s air for our souls
Love is the thing that makes us feel whole
Love is the promise, the color of hope, the joy
And the wonder – the serenity that lives inside me…

Because this woman, Grandma, taught me what it means
To love with all you are, to give with all your heart…
Because God has given you this glow that shows
Everything you live for is in the giving away of a love
That is like a fire, alive inside, burning up the darkness
With beautiful, joyful, sensitive – complete devotion
For the One who created this miracle of loving unconditionally!

Thanks to my grandma, I know what it means to give
Love that is inspired by God himself, love that is alive
Because He planted the seed, nurtured the plant and lifted
The bloom, the soul, so that everything, everywhere, knows…
It is this love that destroys doubt,
Silences fears and wipes away tears
With the assurance that love knows the way to restore
Every heart to the place where they know the true beauty
Is in the gift of loving completely with a love that completes
Each heart, each soul… with love like the love my grandma gave me
Love that is inspired by the greatest love there is…
Love from the One who gave us all breath!
