Grand Opening
On tiny wheels it rolled on rails.
It shook the boards and loosed the nails
of shed-on-platform near the green,
and from a hillock could be seen
and heard by all, for measures
round the square.
I saw it go--and so it went
with clash and clatter as it bent and
heaved and chugged as light shone through.
Small creatures ran; the sparrows flew;
the leaves all quaked and settled
on the grass.
It all went up with crack and roar.
This brand new toy, my ga'rage door
went up as dark-at-dawn fed 'way.
My better mood, a brighter day--
and so it went with "click" and
flick of wrist.
