Tingly skies full of surprise oh how I love when with surmise,
the little rascal aims his dart as if it were, poetic art !
But as time passes. Cupid indulges
In drinking spiced nectar
          He must improve his aim.
How many arrows does he fire,
Speeding into the hearts of random humans,
Trying to make them love?

And what does he get in return?
Does any lovely wench flutter her eyelids?
And give him that come hither smile?
        Life can be very cruel!
Now less wise and dejected, his arrows blunt,
He aims at random and sends ripples
Of love among the young, who
Ape his image on romantic cards,
Full of red roses, and equally crimson hearts,
With lovers kissing, or cuddling bears,
Eyes starry and glazed, and poetry sweet,
And borders of vine leaves that entwine
And call his feast "Happy St Valentine".

Once Cupid hit me in my ear and I fell madly in love
With a beautiful shapely nymph.
When cupid's arrow aims for you,
there isn't much that you can do!

"Eyes starry and glazed, and poetry sweet," -- Love it! The entire read, delightful! Aim or random, rather his arrows did not pass, though too many, hit in the Ass.

Dear Victor, your poem is a delightful and playful take on Cupid's mischievous ways! Your witty observations and clever wordplay bring a smile to my face. The way you weave together mythology and modern romance is charming. Brilliant :)

Excellent and entertaining poem, Victor. I had no idea Cupid 'indulged' in drinking fruit from the vine so to speak. Best wishes with this contest entry. enjoy your evening, Sara

Cupid is so magical in his powers. His darts will pierce right through the heart and each one hit by his arrow will fall madly in love. No one can help it. The last stanza describing how you happen to be under Cupid's mesmerizing spell is indeed so very interesting to read.

Good one. It seems like I have seen at least one more of these so it must be for a contest. If so, it reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. I hope Cupid gives up the spiced wine and aims only straight arrow for all those looking for love and it is always a perfect match up. Thanks for sharing this one with us plus the very nice art work that is going along. Sara K
