Goodbyes

I saw a man leave today he had April in his eyes a hipflask in his pocket as he said his last goodbyes and all the ones he left behind were painting as he went laying down their colours at a life they thought well spent but summers come and summers go and midnight eventually and all the while within those eyes I thought that man was me

He had april in his eyes! What a line! The kind of line i would wish i had in a poem, very melancholic and heartfelt write this is and the flow is seamless. I love how you’ve ended this too, with “ but summers come and summers go and midnight eventually and all the while within those eyes I thought that man was me“ soul hitting! So touching! I felt this poem. As always it an absolute pleasure reading your work

In the UK April is historically a wet month, April showers we call it, so I used April as a metaphor for tears. I'm pleased you liked my poem, thanks for your continued support IE, much appreciated.

I love the opening two lines--they grabbed my attention...then the last two lines grabbed my heart--such emotion in so little words with your imagery and words. A masterpiece! have a splendid evening, Sara
