Goodbye October
October stirred her brilliant Autumn blend
of colored leaves; some fell and blew away.
Her cool, crisp air we shared and did befriend;
became aware that Autumn's here to stay.
Progressing still, undressing of our trees
as branches lose their power to retain.
The beauty of October's painted leaves
did help to heal the loss-of-summer pain.
The orchards, filled with Autumn's ripened gifts,
did beckon us to gather and consume.
Aroma, still from luscious pies, uplifts;
replaces missing scents of Summer's bloom.
October's gone, and now we realize
November days will lead to Winter's prize.
