Goodbye

The one I missed in the contest. Goodbye, my lost love. It is the end. I cannot really comprehend, The tiffs we had that we cannot mend, I'm sure I cannot call you a friend. Don't send me flowers, I prefer weeds. They reflect your evil thoughts and deeds. Once I sent you some forget-me-nots, All was a mind and heart of bad knots. So please, don't send me any flowers, Gone are those captivating long hours. I'd rather find a sweet fair lover A give and take that we'll discover.

Hello Victor. Contest or no contest this entry stands on its own and is lovely and expressive. I for one am not a fan of contests. The only good thing is that they do inspire works and creativity. Have a beautiful day now and always. I'm sorry I missed this one. Love and Blessings now and always. (smile)

Great poetry, Victor. It's amazing how fast some of the contests get filled up. The shame of it is, is that in just about every contest I sponsor and judge, there is always a few poems entered that have nothing to do with my contest. Just wrong..

I missed reading your poems Victor, so I will read one a night, when all are asleep so I can catch up. OK now to this poem.. Enter it in another contest. Its good. I hope its fiction. You are right about love being give and take, so is friendship, but both rely on forgiveness too. If there is a grudge or animosity, you need to forgive and set it free. Take care my sweet friend. Hope you are as well as can be.

My friend, this is lovely and sorrowful poetry. "I'd rather find a great fair lover, a give and take that we'll discover," the poem's final sentence, is one of my favorites. In my opinion, being like that is preferable to having flowers. A wonderfully rhyming poem about the complexities of relations.

Sad that you had a tiff/s that would not mend. If you can find it on YouTube, listen to the song, "Nothing Between Us But Love Anymore" sung by the Oakridge Boys. Thanks for sharing this one and for dropping by my page. Sara

A beautifully sad poem my dear friend. I especially like the ending, I'd rather find a sweet fair lover, a give and take that we'll discover. For me, it's better to be that way than having flowers. So goodbye is better though it hurts a lot. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome poem from your golden pen. I wished it wasn't late for the contest coz I'm hundred percent sure, it'll win. Thanks also for reading my poem. I went to edit it. I just scribbled it before nap. Blessings always. Hugs

Hi, Victor! This one reads shorter for you, but, wow, it is Long on feelings, honesty and the desired. The references to flowers and weeds drive the imagery of the felt home. Succinct…Powerful! Hugs, sally

This is an amazing poem, it reminds me of the essence of the song from Marie Osmond's 'Paper Roses' from the 1970s. Your words "Don't send me flowers, I prefer weeds, They reflect your evil thoughts and deeds." are incredibly powerful, and I think they could be made into a hit song, I really do! Perfectly penned, and brilliantly written.

Real shame this one missed the contest Victor, still I’m delighted you posted it, A sweet fair lover is not too much to ask for, so many relationships are one way streets, and seldom last very long, a wise poem indeed, cheers David

'Give and take' makes a relationship enduring. If it is a one way traffic, better bid goodbye. A beautifully rhyming poem showing the intricasies in a love relationship.

Give and take does it--as your ending line says what a relationship should be. Poignant write, Victor.

I'm not bitter. Just disappointed that the contest for poems beginning with G filled so quickly. Not the first time but still a pity.
