Notes About The Poem

good tailoring isn't swift

Certain yarns with needles knit
Are not strong and likely will split
So please keep in mind
The seamstress is kind
And insists on try-ons for fit

I am so glad you liked this one. It was from a picture my daughter sent me, and she said I could use it as I wished. Thanks!

An entertaining limerick weaves together the skills of knitting and sewing, creating a clever comparison between the quality of a knitted piece and the suitability of a circumstance or choice. The joyful and spirited tone of this metaphorical discussion brings a hint of whimsical insight.

SP, I love the way you summarized this piece. You are really very clever and have an exceptional command of language!

She must be an expert knit wit - To insist on a try on fit - One must be bold - To do as one’s told - It seams rather too close-knit…… Beryl

Haha I expected from the title to be reading about Taylor Swift. I am a Swifty

Not bad to be a Swifty...she has a lot of charisma. The title is a take off on her with a slightly different take. She has a lot of people following her career, of course.

This is a very funny limerick. I wonder from your poem---are you a knit artist?

Hilda, my wife is crocheting all the time. This was not one of her creations although I do see her trying on things and then making adjustments. So, she deserves some credit.

A fun read, Duke. You are the master of wordplay --succinctly you convey your theme, my friend.

Vijay, TY for recognizing what I am trying to do. I am trying to be brief, humorous, and touch on a theme. You are very kind.

Karen, It's very kind that you can appreciate mine and other people's work. It's a strength of your being and personality. Sometimes, I get lucky too. I have to be willing to start with work that I know is not that good and work on it or modify it to try to achieve what I would like. If what you're doing seems pleasant and fun to you while you are doing it, then you are on the right track.

Ha, Duke. You manage to get your 'point' across without saying exactly what your Limerick implies. Well done! I didn't miss the nudge in Taylor Swift's direction.
