Notes About The Poem

God’s Business in Blizzard Conditions

Sending street people home. It’s too cold.
God can clear streets faster than you can say, “boo.”
Fresh, crisp air - the cleanse of triggered scent.
The lift of higher and higher white suds of flakes.
Go home! Catch your breath. Put on your boots.
Play with powdered refresh. Don’t go back
to same old, same old. You can be renewed.

If you can’t open your door, God still
wants you to stay indoors. Don’t waste
your time. Pray on your knees. Lift
your hands, dance indoors. Praise the Lord!

Blizzard conditions! How cool! No need to work.
Take that rest; pass the test. Oh I fear…
yes, most will will return to the muck.
Lie in the snow, for a while become an angel;
or just cosset those wings - don’t get buried
in all your troubles, mind your business -
God’s business. Don’t slip!

Don’t shovel a heart attack. Get your heart straight.
Enjoy your blizzard. Spring is flying with the geese.
When you stare at those snow flowers and trees
remember how wholesome and bright is life.

Love that second line. Wish God would visit Minneapolis with about a month-long storm... That'll stop the nonsense there.

Maybe… My son lives in that area so it would be hard for me to wish that on him and his family. I get your sentiments though! I just know that God is watching. Hugs

Ariel makes me think of Sylvia Plath. …remember what..the screen rolling? This is more about the connection with the pandemic, where streets were totally devoid of people and God’s sabbath year. So good to have a weekly rest and other times of refresh. Hugs

Nice write. But like Valsa I tend to remember that not everyone has a house or warm boots! I’ve been homeless so I get why some are!

Hi Kim, this is one way of looking at it. But think of the homeless who sleep in the open. God may have a plan for everything. Let us hope, it is all for our good. Appreciate your positivity.

A nice message of hope and inspiration... And yet folks have died and more will die...
