Genesis of War
From whence come wars,
what birthplace spawn them?
The cradle of covetousness,
exceedingly covetous lust
Desiring to have what someone else possess
This is the genesis of war
Once an evil, fighting spirit is conceived,
it must flourish and breed
Fear mongering multiplies
by the spreading of rumors and lies
The specter of incalculable deaths
causes the fever pitch of war to rise
This is the genesis of war
It begins with a well-timed insult
to an aggrieved proud heart
Whether this affront is delivered
by one man or a nation,
it matters not
Once the rotting bones of contention
are unearthed,
dormant war machines will be awakened,
having insatiable blood thirst
You will start hearing patriotic songs,
and every citizen
will be expected to join the angry, flag-waving throngs
This is the genesis of war
All that remains for a war to start
is a spark ...
an incident to light the powder keg
The third time is the charm,
barks a veteran, in a wheelchair, without legs
and one arm
Pray to God that you don’t become a pawn
in war’s apocalyptic game of death
If you let your soul get blown away,
what on earth do you have left?
I hope you listen to the Revelator ...
for God will surely close the book on war,
forevermore
