Gathering my memories of you,
I surround myself
with their love.
I can recall
every smile, every hug,
and every tear.
There comes a time
when the best part of life is a memory.
You were my friend,
my lover, my hope,
and my joy.
I fell in love
with each of your little quirks,
quaint idiosyncrasies
and loving gestures long ago.
I remember our first kiss,
and how from that moment on
we both felt that our souls were forever linked.
Life's a runaway roller coaster
of which we have no control,
we know neither the destination
nor the course it will take.
But, we're all along for the ride
and the best we can hope for
is to choose who shares the ride with us.
And I'm ecstatic
that you chose me, and I chose you.
You've reached your exit first, my love,
but I'll see you soon; mine lies just ahead.
