Gateway

"I wouldn't be a songwriter if it wasn't for books that I loved as a kid. I think that when you can escape into a book it trains your imagination to think big and to think that more can exist than what you see." – Taylor Swift When the world falls still. When day is done, left behind. When pages instill magical words in her mind, new worlds she begins to find. Stories spring to fore as fairies spread stars' delight. Something strikes her core and flickers throughout the night in reflective candlelight. Before dawn arrives. Before candle loses flame. She lives divers lives, travels worlds both wild and tame. Reading's her gateway to fame.

I became a big-time reader once I got my hands on my first Dick, Jane and Spot. I related to this, felt it in my bones. In many ways it fits Eve's contest (except line count, I think). So, you are Sideways Owl? Nice to meet you, I'm Makes No Sense CayCay. Your rhyme and flow were quite enjoyable.

I, too, am a big-time reader. So glad you related. I am pleased to elicit such kind comments. So nice to meet you, as well. I changed my Owl once and found I was too closely tied to it that some did not recognize me. LOL I appreciate your comments about thyme and flow. :)

Linda, this is a very interesting quote and provides a bit of insight into Taylor Swift. She has a very large and dedicated following, and it seems like she knows how to work hard. She appears to retain her humanity, which must be difficult in her position. Now there is a lesson in all this. We can all dare to dream and look to books and other things for inspiration. It helps to know what other people have discovered and can relate to us in many different forms. When others inspire us it can provide us with much benefit. Thanks for providing me with a treat today. You have a poet's gift in that regard and my inner core smiles at you!!

Reading all your lovely comments this morning has lifted my spirits and inspired me to write more. Thank you for that. The pressures on today's celebrities must be tremendous. Let's keep our humanity in check and give respect to all. Inspiration may come from the most unlikely of places. Thanks for all the smiles and uplifting comments! So stoked :)

Very nicely put...says a lot. I think I also have to take another look a Taylor Swift...still with Dean Martin and Jerry Vale -- old school. Great poem, with lots of insight.

There is some "controversy" surrounding Taylor. I have noticed that many of today's celebrities surround themselves with drama than I ever noticed with my old school favorites. New folks call it controversy. I call it drama. As "they" say, "You smell like drama and a headache. Get away from me." Thanks for your visit and comments Joe. :)

That quote is so true, used to read an awful lot years ago,not so much now, as you've probably guessed, westerns were my favourite. Hope you're keeping well Linda. Tom
