Each December I begin to write down, my yearly New Years pledge; each year that list seems to have grown, oh, its very windy on this high ledge ! For I know all the pledges will not work, just like they failed before; I swear, I write them from my heart, why not just get the old list from the drawer ! So this time I am writing just for fun- will not use a bank ATM; one day I tried five- for a $40 sum, it left me in a breakdown of mayhem ! Will not buy from Facebook's Market Place, saw an item wanted; I must pick up- what a wild chase, at last found it but the house looked haunted ! Will not eat pizza, cheese, peanut butter, 'cause this stuff makes me sick; feeling like I ate a crater ... I know that these simple pledges will stick !

Love this New Year Resolutions, Dear Constance, the promises which are realistic, and not too difficult to keep. We all have these little addictions - to pizza, to chocolate, or to Coke! Let's hope 2024 will be a great year for us with good health - physical and emotional. Your poems are brilliant, Dear Poetess, I read many times to be inspired! Love and Hugs ~

I love this and i can resonate so deeply,.. so many times we write resolutions and everytime we enter a new year it feels like we are repeating ourselves over and over again. I love the opening and also the last lines you always nail them, whatever you may write dear constance. I admire that. Sending you light always. Pleasure reading your work

'Will not eat pizza, cheese, peanut butter, 'cause this stuff makes me sick; feeling like I ate a crater" ...! This is exactly how I too feel when eating fast food with too much of cheese like burgers and pizza. Enjoyed much the humorous tone of your New Year Resolutions.

I suppose the simpler resolutions are easier to keep. I'm curious as to why we humans feel compelled to have new years resolutions? I think they're a great notion but wonder why we're compelled to do so...there's a poem in that somewhere. Have a pleasant evening, Sara
