Jack Frost arrives Feather like patterns have appeared all over my bedroom windows My frozen fingers trace the swirling fern like patterns as I gaze intensely at the sparkling crystalline formation on the window panes Warm breath melts a small section of filigree ice Rivulets of icy water trickle down the glass. I wipe away condensation and peer out onto my lawn, which is scintillating with delicate crystals of ice I step onto frosted grass and can hear it crunch with each stride I make on the lawn Low winter sun is shining and I am enchanted by a delicate gossamer spider’s web glistening with beads of ice white diamonds Each stanza 54 syllables checked with how many syllables The Magic of Three Contest:- Sponsored by Broken Wings 01/27/18

Gorgeous poem, Jan! I loved the build-up in each stanza, crescendoing "on cat's feet" toward each climactic line. Bravo!! Well-deserved winner! Warmest wishes, Gershon

My muse is fickle Jo I never force her to write I just wait until she is ready. I've come to the conclusion she goes into hibernation during the dull winter days!:-( hugs jan xx

Frost patterns or designs were a favorite boyhood experience. I have written a few poems on the subject too. We are still experiencing heavy morning frost here and will until at least March. Your poem captures your keen powers of observation and description. / M

Your fibonnaci are as delicately worded as the crystals of ice upon your window, on your lawn, and that lay as delicate icy pearls in a spider's web. Beautifully crafted, Jan.

I don't really care much about the count or form but do care about how a poem makes me feel----and this is beautifully written and reminds me of the days I like in New England. Thanks Jan God Bless

I will always prefer humour but do surprise with a more serious poem and am delighted with the way this one turned out in the end as it was quite a challenge to write to a strict syllable count:-) hugs jan xx
