From Your Little Honey Bee

Be nice to me. I’m just a little bee
that works so hard to see my hive succeed.
Why does it seem like you’re afraid of me?
I only want to fly around and feed
on pollen and sweet nectar. That’s my chore;
I’m necessary, for I pollinate!
But we're all being destroyed now. What for?
I do the world a service that’s so great!
My fellow bees and I just want to nourish
the plants you eat, but there’s a pesticide
which kills us! Don’t you want your fields to flourish?
Protect us, please! We’re facing genocide!
I only sting to save myself or hive
Don’t fear my kind. You need us to survive!

Hi Andrea, I am most curious if this contest has been judged and if not why is it. Would you have any idea? Thanks

Bees are diminishing in number just because men upset their conducive natural environment ! An earnest plea from the bees to preserve the ecosystem ! Well written Andrea...! All the Best !

Andrea, This magnum opus confirms your status as an artist. An imaginative sonnet of sweep and vision. I’m honoured by your glowing review of “Salad And Sudoku.” Yes, I intend to enter it in “A Merger With Food” contest Warm regards Howard.

the honeybee is disappearing at an alarming rate, when they go, we all may go, they are that important

Give the bees a break, they're just being bees. Be thankful for them. I like your Sonnet, thanks for sharing. Hugs, Bill

A very nice poem you have here. I used to be a beekeeper with my dad when I was younger and so I can relate and totally agree.
