Friends You'Ve Never Mentioned Before - Both Audio and Text

Listen to poem:
“Who was that?” my wife inquired, as I hung up the phone. “And what was that you said about a bar?” “That was Duncan Taylor, hon. A darn good friend of mine. He asked if I would come and jump his car. “He said the place he’s parked behind has vowed to have it towed if not removed by 12 o’clock tonight. I said I’d have to ask if you could spare me for a while, and wisely only told him that - ‘I might’. “Seems he’s done a car pool with some pals of his, and mine, and says - if I can’t help - they’re really screwed. No one there has jumper cables. I’m surprised he checked…good old Duncan ain’t the brightest dude. “And all their wives are out of town - talk about bad luck - so taxicabs would be their only choice. They’re really in a spot, Eileen, and Duncan’s pretty bummed…I heard the desperation in his voice. “I know it’s New Year’s Eve, my dear, and jumping someone’s car is not exactly what I’d hoped to do, But if you’ll let me help them out, I swear to you, my love…tomorrow night belongs to only you! “Jim Beam’s wife’d kill him if he taxied home to Brooklyn…and Jose’ Quervo’s wife would have a cow Were he to pay for cab fare back to Hackensack tonight…and that’s the mess they’re lookin’ at right now! “And even though Jack Daniels and Sam Adams have the bucks to pay for cabs from here to Timbucktu With pocket change…because we’re pals…it’s hard to tell them ‘no’…but, since we did have plans…it’s up to you. “Before we tied the knot I spent a lot of time carousing with all of them, but sweetie, like I said… Since they’re only asking me to drive a couple miles, to jump a car whose battery is dead, “I’m prepared to make the run…if that’s OK with you…but I will tell them ‘no’ if you insist! Of course I’m sure that Jim and Duncan - Jack - Jose’- and Sam, will be, to say the least, a little pissed!” “I haven’t heard you talk about these guys before, Lamar…but if they’re all good friends - you’d better go. I’ll take your word we’ll celebrate tomorrow night instead, and though I prob’ly should…I won’t say, ‘no!’” “Gosh, Eileen, that’s sweet of you. And, honey, don’t wait up…I’m gonna make them treat me to a meal! Those five guys, I promise you, will make it worth my while to drive to where they’re at and - do the deal. I’ll jump the car…grab a bite…then share a round o’ drinks with all five guys - in honor of the first, But don’t you worry, precious, ‘cause…despite the fact we know how hard it sometimes is to quench a thirst… I’ll be home before you know it, slip right into bed, and that’s a promise I intend to keep - But - since the plant is closed tomorrow - I’d be much obliged if - after my ordeal…you’ll let me sleep!” PS: I've now got 4 new Audio-CDs - @ 4 1/2 hours each = (62 diversely varied pieces).
