Fragility of Dreams

When we sleep, we dream...
and emptying our souls
thoughts pour out,
tumbling freely from one to the next.
Dreams encompass
a multitude of conflicting emotions,
as they flitter and flutter
like elusive butterflies,
adorning the garden of our subconscious mind.
Fantasy is not merely the absence of reality’s rules,
it creates a phantasmagorical playground
limited only by imagination.
Dreams invite us, nightly,
to step through the looking glass
and follow Alice into wonderland.
Plugged into our psyche,
they connect our minds
to an imaginary world
unlike any other.
A jumbled mix of vague interactions,
whereas phantom thoughts
appear and disappear,
rummaging through our mind’s vault
filled with secret hopes and fears.
As opposed to insanity,
in the fragility of dreams, we buttress fantasy illusions
with recognizable truths.
