FOXGLOVE AND BEE

What joy it is watching pink petal bell As it attracts the buzzing bumble bee, For he is lured by its sweet nectar smell And squeezes in to claim a meal that’s free. On his bristles the amber dust then sticks So that the male sex cells may then be spread To female parts of other blooms and mix. Thus DNA between plants is transferred, Then fertile seeds this other plant will make. An example of plant and animal Working in harmony to give and take, Maintaining the balance that’s critical. But then comes man with clever pesticide To wipe out flying insects far and wide.
